Go ahead and find your comfortable resting position for the next few minutes. And remember that you have the freedom to change how you spend this time. You can sit with dignity, lay down and rest, hold a warm cup and soften your gaze, or listen while you move about and prepare for you day. This is your time, create the environment that is best for you.
Take a second to notice your state of being. Can you name how you’re feeling or what you’re experiencing right now?
Tired, worried, anxious, relaxed, curious, distracted…. Planning for the day, scattered thoughts, ready for quiet reflection?
Wherever you find yourself, acknowledge that state, breathe into acceptance, and allow it to be.
Feeling into your breath, inhaling a little deeper, maybe closing your eyes and letting everything settle like a recently shaken snow globe.
Let it all settle…. One breath at a time……
One inhale.
One exhale.
No rush.
Today we’re focusing of what we affirm in our life and the power of our thoughts.
First, what is an affirmation?
Affirmations are simple, short, powerful expressions we can use to guide our energy for day.
They influence our subconscious mind, activate the power of thought, and offer us a positive reframing to our situation.
If you believe your thoughts shape your reality, it’s a good practice to affirm what we desire in life, and not focus on lack or scarcity, but on a more positive outlook.
Depending on what research you use, it is said that we have a minimum of 6,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative…80%! Think about that! How many thousands of negative soundtracks are we playing in our minds?!
And 95% are repetitive thoughts…. Meaning we recycle the same pattern of thinking all day long! And depending on what those thoughts are, if it’s in that 80% negative, we could find ourselves in murky waters.
It’s likely that you’ve heard the phrase, “Your thoughts create your reality”, or "You are what you think”.
Henry Ford is famous for saying, “Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.”
Let that settle in your awareness…”whether you think you can…. Or can’t…. You’re right.”
Maybe you’ve experienced this in your life. Taking this information seriously, can you see how powerful it could be to use an affirmation?
In the morning, I pull from a deck of affirmation cards and let it be my guide for the day.
Today’s affirmation is “I allow my life to unfold”.
Looking at what a wild journey this last year has been, this card speaks to a truth that is beautiful but challenging.
Have you been allowing your life to unfold, or are you trying to control it?
Let’s take a deep breath and explore more ways to allow life to unfold…
I surrender.
I relinquish control.
I recognize my potential to experience unlimited possibilities when I no longer force an agenda into my life.
I allow my life to unfold.
Breathing into the unfolding and allowing…
Repeat to yourself, I allow my life to unfold.
I allow my life to unfold.
Breathing into the feeling of surrender…relinquishing control…
I allow my life to unfold.
Yes, we will take steps towards action.
Yes, we will be proactive and take charge where we can.
Yes, we will be active participants in moving forward….
And also, I allow my life to unfold.
There is freedom in allowing.
There is vulnerability in surrender.
There is unlimited potential in the natural unfolding.
Breathing into a place of trust, may you feel supported by life…
Affirming your place in this world….
I allow my life to unfold, what a beautiful thought to let ruminate in your mind.
With so many thoughts swirling and taking space in our precious brain, let us choose thoughts that affirm our true nature. Let us speak our truth and light to a head space that often drifts into the patterns of the known. Let us bring action to a place of stagnancy.
I allow my life to unfold.
Let’s take one more deep breath in, feeling into our new space of allowing and let that permeate through our body and resonate throughout our day.
